Job Description:

At Regions, the Credit Portfolio Management (CPM) Analyst will focus on topical research leveraging quantitative and qualitative methods to assess portfolio performance trends, market analytics and outlooks to drive the active portfolio management of Regions credit portfolio.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Willingly collaborates across teams throughout the bank (e.g., Line of Business, Risk, Treasury, Finance, Technology) to leverage expertise and complete complex projects

  • Initiates research to drive origination strategy and/or risk mitigation and acts and is a thoughts leader

  • Conducts routine and ad hoc research at the direction of the CPM Research Manager, including (performance trends analysis, market trend and outlook)

  • Summarizes findings from external research

  • Proactively queries Regions’ data repositories in response to inbound questions from business leaders and to support research efforts

  • Sources, scrubs and maintains internal and external data required for research and analysis purposes

  • Collaborates with Risk Reporting to design dashboards to improve risk awareness throughout the firm

  • Builds tools to be used throughout the firm in credit underwriting, portfolio monitoring and risk assessment

  • Provides support to area of expertise on special projects

  • Provides training, managerial support and/or coaching to Analyst I and II team members

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position will work a hybrid schedule with a combination of in-office and remote work

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Five (5) years of credit/ market research, advanced analytics or credit risk management experience

Preferences

  • Master’s degree or Professional Certification (e.g., Certified Financial Analyst, Certified Public Accountant, Financial Risk Manager)

  • Advanced understanding of quantitative measures of credit performance (e.g., Probability of Default/Loss Given Default/EL/EC)

  • Expertise with SQL/SAS, Python, R, VBA or other programming languages

  • Expertise in one or more major asset classes (e.g., C&I, Real Estate, Consumer)

Skills and Competencies

  • Ability to set priorities, organize workflow, manage multiple tasks concurrently, and work well under pressure and deadlines

  • Strong written communication skills

  • Ability to conduct fact-based research and summarize findings

  • Proficiency with software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Power BI)

  • Strong oral presentation skills (both large and small audiences)

  • Ability to draw conclusions from fact-based research and recommend actions to drive credit strategy (origination and/or risk mitigation)

  • Advanced skills in Excel and Power BI

  • Willingness to collaborate across teams throughout the bank (e.g., Line of Business, Risk, Treasury, Finance, Technology) to leverage expertise and complete complex projects

  • Partner with the Climate Risk Reporting Transformation Manager to evolve bank-wide reporting on Financed Emissions (with a focus on the quantitative content) for business insights and external disclosures.

  • Support other environmental and social risk management priorities and reporting needs based on regulatory and industry best practices (e.g., scenario analysis, industry trending, etc.)

  • Develop and manage central repository for aggregating source data for Financed Emissions measurement, including quality control, testing and reporting of QC/testing results and integrate with Financial Risk reporting

  • Liaise with Asset Class SMEs on reporting and methodology maintenance and enhancements.

  • Partners with risk management, business, technology and operations partners across all lines of defense to lead or support climate risk management transformation.

  • Incorporate data lifecycle automation techniques where possible.

  • Implement and manage repository governance, including methodology, change management log, key decisions, model governance documentation, etc.

  • Partner with source data owners and/or data stewards to source, report and QA necessary data, including escalation of data issues when necessary.

  • Support timely peer benchmarking / industry best-practice understanding on GHG emissions reporting.

Skills and Competencies

  • Comprehensive knowledge of or interest in learning Partnership for Carbon Accounting (PCAF) methodology and associated changes and interpret for ongoing reporting production (e.g., PCAF certification).

  • Knowledge of GHG emissions industry trends and reporting/data management best practices and regulatory requirements.

  • Strong communication, documentation, presentation and organizational skills

  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact with all levels of management and associates

  • Proficient in Microsoft Office and project management and/or collaboration tools

  • Ability to research, analyze data, and derive facts

  • Strong work ethic and self-motivation

Preferences

  • PCAF certified and/or prior experience applying PCAF standards.

  • Exposure to applying credit risk management principles in carbon-intensive industries and understands potential client business models.

  • Exposure to data risk management and data architecture techniques.

  • Expertise with Statistical Analysis Systems (SAS), Structured Query Language (SQL), R/Python, Power Business Intelligence (Power BI), or related database softwares

  • Experience developing and/or facilitating QA/QC, testing or assurance processes

  • Comfortable working in an ambiguous, dynamic environment

  • Experience leading cross-functional teams to desired outcomes

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.
